The Advisory Board sets the objectives and the selection process for the Porter Prize. It is not involved in the selection itself.
Professor Porter is the Honorary Senior Advisor to the Porter Prize. He will attend the award ceremony and personally present the award.
The selection committee is made up of academics knowledgeable about competitive strategy (representing institutions such as Keio University, Kobe University, Tokyo University, Hitotsubashi University, and others) It has sole responsibility for selecting the finalists and winners and functions independently of the Organizing Committee and the Advisory Board.

The organizing body of the Porter Prize is the Graduate School of International Corporate Strategy at Hitotsubashi University, the first "professional" graduate school established in Japan in April 2000. It offers a full-time MBA program, taught entirely in English, at the Kanda Campus in Chiyoda-ku Hitotsubashi, as well three other courses (Financial Strategy, Business Law, and Tax and Public Policy) targeted towards students with work experience.
