Nikkei Column Features the Porter Prize
The "Kaze" (Wind) column appearing in the Nihon Keizai Shimbun on November 20, 2013,
discussed the Porter Prize organized by Hitotsubashi ICS. This award recognizes
Japanese companies that have achieved a competitive advantage by implementing unique
strategies. In this column, it was noted that half of the Porter Prize winners in
the past five years had been established after 1990. This marks a sharp
contrast with the early years, when the winners were all blue chip companies. ICS
Professor Emi Osono was quoted as saying, "This prize provides Japanese
companies with an opportunity to apply the theory of competitive strategy to
their own businesses."
The column is distrubuted in Japanese only.
